The Project Format
The format of this project was to team up with someone else and come up with a game concept/interaction design concept within one week. At the end of this week you would have to present your concept to the entire 2nd year game designers, game artists and interaction designers (80+ people, 40 concepts). The trick was that only 20 of these concepts are going to be produced, and the teams that won't make it through the voting will be dissembled and then placed into one of the teams that did make it through the voting. The voting worked as following; At the end of these presentations everyone had to pick out their top 5 favorite concepts, labeling them 1 as top favorite, and 5 as least favorite. Depending on the label your concept got, you scored points. And with those points you need to work your way into the top 20 rankings in order for your concept to be picked out and produced.
A simple idea, but very exciting I can tell you.
Enough said, we were picked! We cheared our way out of the building and into the bars that day!
The Start
Now, nine weeks later we started on our project we called "Tilium" (working title). It's a puzzle, platform adventure game which has some really innovative and never seen before mechanics which I will be telling you more about during the development process that lies ahead of us, because we just started and I need visuals to explain it to whoever reads this.Within 3 weeks from now we will have a working prototype of the game so I will get more into detail about this vague explanation of our game, and some interesting stuff for you to see!
This blog will be updated on a daily bases so there will be plenty for you to see and stay up to date to for the weeks to come. Stay in touch and if you want to leave a comment to whatever is posted on this blog, feel free to do so!
